Decision for the “Anxhelo Case”
The crime is such that the public needs to be informed.
But, first The presumption of innocence has been violated, the person must be presumed innocent until convicted by the Court.
And second: The way the news is published has violated the rights of child and the principles declared in the UN Convention “On the Rights of the Child” and Law no. 10347, “On the Protection of the Rights of the Child”, for the preservation of the child’s confidentiality and privacy.
The Board considers that the publication of the news in the present form is a breach of the Code of Ethics and recommends the involved media to delete the publication online.
