Press Release: About the reported violence against Top Channel journalists in Bajram Curri

Tirana, July 14th 2018, – The Albanian Media Council denounces the violence reported today against Top Channel journalists, who were attacked in Bajram Curr while conducting filming and investigating the construction of hydropower plants in the Valbona River.

 

Established as an organization in defense of media freedom and ethics, the Albanian Media Council sees a cause for concern when the freedom of journalists for reporting and investigating is violated and the ethics of a correct and honest communication is disrupted.

 

We call upon the State Police and the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate quickly and conclude on the event in Bajram Curr.

 

We also call on organizations for protection of journalists to raise the voice against any ethical, physical and professional violation of media professionals.

Tiranë, 14 Korrik 2018, – Këshilli Shqiptar i Medias dënon dhunën e raportuar sot kundër gazetarëve të Top Channel, të cilët janë sulmuar në Bajram Curr, ndërsa kryenin xhirime dhe investigonin ndërtimin e hidrocentraleve në lumin Valbonë.

 

E ngritur si nje organizate në mbrojtje të lirisë dhe etikës së Medias, Këshilli e sheh me shqetësim kur liria e raportimit dhe investigimit të gazetarëve cënohet dhe etika e një komunikimi civil e korrekt shkelet.

 

I bëjmë thirrje Policise së Shtetit dhe Prokurorisë të hetojë me shpejtësi dhe të konkludojë me korrëktësi mbi ngjarjen e ndodhur në Bajram Curr.

 

I bëjmë thirrje gjithashtu organizatave të mbrojtjes së gazetarëve të ngrenë zërin kundër cdo dhunimi etik, fizik dhe profesional të punonjësve të medias.
