“MATRA”: 72 young ethical journalists with the support of the Embassy of the Netherlands

Ambassador Guusje Korthals Altes and Albanian Media Council’s Executive Director, Koloreto Cukali, signed the agreement for starting the project “Self Regulation – Act III”.

This is a new MATRA project, supported by the Dutch Embassy in Tirana, aiming at enforcing self-regulation and improving ethical conduct in Albania.

In a 2 year course, 72 young journalists, will be trained in their working-place to be ethical journalists.

Self-Regulation, as established in most of the European countries and EU policies, is the only viable alternative to solve ethical media issues prior to going to courts. This initiative aims to strengthen and increase the capacity of the Albanian Media Council to promote self–regulation and professional journalism in the Albanian media landscape.
