The Albanian Media Council strongly condemns the gun attack on the house of journalist Klodiana Lala.
The Council call for state institutions, the Prime Minister, the President, the Prosecutor’s Office and the Courts to reflect their supporting speech into tangible action, revealing all the details that led to this unprecedented attack.
The journalists’ community will never feel safe unless the offenders are retained accountable.
The Media Council also urges all public actors to stop the inflammatory language that provokes violence against media people. Because of it media environment has become vulnerable to threats and blackmail.
Freedom of expression and the press is guaranteed by the Constitution and we should not cease to seek these guarantees for the media and society.
